Using Nature & Neuroplasticity to Nourish Life Long Learning

Thank you for finding my blog. I want to use my expert knowledge of neuroplasticity and nature to support & facilitate people with their personal development and growth. Helping people to become life long learners who have persitence and resilience. I want to use a blog, webinars, live events, coaching, and consulting to help people with their self development and growth. I am going to use my nearly 25 years of experience in education along with a Masters Degree and a PhD in Education to bring expertise and experience to a large audience.  I have a lot of life experience to bring to this endeavour including being a full-time secondary (high school) teacher for nearly a quarter of a century working in both middle leadership and senior leadership roles for over 15 years. I am passionate about nature and wildlife and the health benefits to both our physical and mental health from being in nature. I have a Masters Degree and a PhD in Education – specialising in special educational needs and how we learn.

I studied for a Masters Degree and a PhD whilst working full-time. I have had to face some extraordinarily difficult and complex situations in my personal life.  These situations combined with the background research I did on memory and learning for my PhD, have led to an interest in mental health. I am particularly interested in how the natural world and wildlife gardening can improve mental health, productivity and our ability to learn. Hence, I have a great deal of experience; I want to share this experience to help people.

I add this as a caveat. I am not a medical professional or a mental health professional. I have professional training as a biologist from my undergraduate degree, and a wealth of experience as a high school/secondary school teacher. As I have already said, I have a Masters Degree and a PhD in Education. I have a wealth of experience as a parent and as a secondary school teacher. I am writing this blog so other people can learn from my experience and mistakes I have made along the way.

I am aiming to continue to post on a range of topics that you will find useful including memory, learning & support for learning needs, wildlife gardening, mental health and teaching.
