Hello to you all and a warm welcome to my blog if this is your first visit!
Dark Days December 2024 Challenge – To Connect with Nature Everyday in December 2024
I struggle with the dark days of winter. I know that when I get out and connect with nature it always improves my mood. But with limited daylight hours, we want to come home from work and curl up on the sofa (or in bed) and hibernate. At the end of the summer I came up with the idea of setting myself a Dark Days December Challenge. This was something that I was going to do privately.
The aim of starting my blog was to help support people with their wellbeing, learning and memory through connecting with nature. The first blog series was how to improve your memory. I had plans to then focus on memory and learning as my next blog series. However, as I have been speaking to work colleagues, friends and people I chat to locally when I am walking my dogs – struggling with dark winter days is a widespread issue. If I can through doing this challenge, inspire people to connect with nature more in the dark days of December. It would be amazing.
The challenge needed to be achievable within the constraints of my day to day busy life. I am a mum, a wife and have a full time job.
The challenge is to connect with nature in my front garden everyday in December. To connect with nature I will be looking for an aspect of nature to film a short video, and write a blog post. This connection with nature could be with an animal, plant, or fungus.
I have put a YouTube post on my YouTube Channel introducing the challenge.
I would love to hear if you have been inspired to do the challenge with me. It is well documented that getting outside and connecting with nature have a positive impact on our mental health. My hope is that by the end of December I am feeling happier during these dark days of Winter and that you all are feeling happier too.
